National Dental Foundation and Pacific Smiles Group to bring free dental care to disadvantaged people across Australia
Pacific Smiles Group is proud to announce it has become the Major Sponsor of the National Dental Foundation for the next three years, ensuring that it is able to continue providing much needed free dental treatments to those who may not otherwise be able to access dental care. To date, over 5000 patients have benefitted from the National Dental Foundation’s initiatives, with dental practices, practitioners and staff all volunteering their facilities, equipment and time to assist those who need it most.
The National Dental Foundation is a registered charity and public benevolent institution that facilitates the provision of pro bono dental services to those in society who are least able to access dental care. Working closely with many Australian charities including the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and Anglicare, the National Dental Foundation harnesses the support of multiple dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, assistants and receptionists in numerous practices throughout Australia to provide pro bono dental work to patients referred by participating charities.
The key to success for the National Dental Foundation is in the ongoing unique partnerships forged by the organisation, as Chairman of the National Dental Foundation Board, David Digges says:
“Our approach is to be both broad and localised at the same time, so we actively work to connect with organisations like Pacific Smiles Group and the Australian Dental Association who have a strong national presence to provide ongoing support at the macro level and allow us to connect with as many people as possible right around Australia. This is complemented by our localised approach – where our State Coordinators work together with individual dentists, practices and referring charities to deliver much-needed dental services to some of our community’s most disadvantaged.”
“Our end goal has been, and will continue to be, to coordinate the extremely generous contribution of pro bono dental care offered by participating dentists, dental staff and suppliers to as many people as possible, improving dental health throughout the community – and often changing lives for the better. We have benefited greatly from the support of the Commonwealth government, who assisted us to fund the administration of these activities by way of a three year grant
– which is now coming to an end. The preparedness of Pacific Smiles Group to step in and make this significant contribution to supporting both our core activities and the Dental Rescue Days that deliver these important services has gone a long way to making that a reality well into the future” Dr Digges said.
Pacific Smiles Group is proud to come on board as the major sponsor, bringing with it almost 50 Dental Centres throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT – continuing to support this important delivery of pro bono dental care through the National Dental Foundation.
